Updates for Cadets & Parents

Dear Cadets & Parents/Guardians of 94 Squadron,

Welcome Back! We hope you enjoyed the summer break and are as excited as we are for the start of the new training year! We have another busy and challenging training year ahead of us!

This year we will continue with our regular parade nights on Wednesdays at Newmarket High School from 6:30-9:15PM and optional training (band, drill, effective speaking) on Mondays at the Optimist Hall from 7:00-9:00pm. Ground School will still be run online this year on Sundays from 7:00-9:30PM.

Our calendar has been posted on our website, click here to take a look! You can also sync the Squadron Calendar to your phone or tablet with instructions posted on our website.

Our training year begins on Wednesday September 13, 2023, with our annual Welcome Back BBQ & Administration Night at the Optimist Hall (55 Forhan Ave). All returning Cadets are to arrive between 7:00PM-8:00PM and may leave once they have gone through the intake process (approx. 30-45 mins). The BBQ will end at 8:30PM. This is a mandatory activity for all cadets, as there are many requirements that need to be completed for a returning cadet to start the training year:

  • Annual Validation – a parent must sign the annual validation confirming the cadet's contact info and medical information. Please bring your health card with you so we can verify we have the correct version on file.
  • Supply Cadets need to try on their Uniforms prior to attending to make sure everything still fits! If you have a uniform item that doesn't fit, please bring it in with you (clean!) to return. Due to the number of cadets in our Squadron, we will not be exchanging items during the BBQ, however cadets will return items that no longer fit, and be scheduled for a follow up appointment.
  • Annual Assessment Fee – The Ontario Provincial Committee of the Air Cadet League’s Annual Assessment Fee is $125 this year. Payment can be made by Cash, Debit, Credit or Cheque (paid to “SSC 94 Squadron RC (Air)CS”). Note: There is a $5 fee for using credit. Concerns about the Assessment Fee can be addressed with the SSC (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.)
  • BBQ – Once you have finished the intake process, you are welcome to enjoy a hamburger or hotdog and catch up with your fellow cadets. BBQ is free for cadets & parents, but donations are appreciated.
